Goals

We are committed to maximizing our efforts individually, and as a group, to lift Upward the name of Jesus and reach Unlimited people for Christ. To achieve our mission with a Christlike attitude, we are committed to:

- Being keepers of the promise.

- Creating seed casters.

- Using conflicts as ministry opportunities.

- Looking for ever-changing ways to share a never-changing message.

- Being a first class, organized, detailed evangelistic ministry, partnered together as a unified team.

The purposes of Upward Basketball are:

1. To share the love of Jesus Christ with each player, coach, referee, and family.

2. To help every player to grow as Jesus did - spiritually, physically, mentally, and socially.

3. To help every player develop character, and understanding of sportsmanship, and a respect for authority in any situation, on and off the court.

4. To help every player develop self-esteem and a sense of personal value.

5. To teach every player the fundamentals of basketball and help them grow in their understanding and enjoyment of the sport.

People

Everyone involved with Upward Basketball is a volunteer.
A coach is only responsible for reporting to the league commissioner, resolving parent problems, communicating to parents league information, holding devotions and practices, and praying for his/her team.
A referee is a true servant leader. They are the ultimate authority on the court and it is their responsibility to know the rules. It is the job of these two volunteers to handle problems and avoid conflict on the court.
Other volunteers include the game-day coordinators whose job it is to take care of the setting up of each gym for games. The league director makes the key decisions for the league and coordinates those involved with Upward Basketball.
As a parent, you want to see your child succeed in every aspect of their lives and your involvement in Upward Basketball reflects that.
It is the desire, then, of this organization to meet the goals and purposes stated above and using the priority given them.
We give the Lord Jesus the praise and glory for allowing us to be involved in His work. That is the Upward Difference.
